At first it looked so autumnal! But looking/considering more closely, and I must add reading other comments, I realize it is just the rosy sun tinting the grain heads — magical, as others have said

Fabulous – shame the local weather changed for the final day of the Open but 3 days out of 4 was much better than most years.
Oh it certainly was better than most years…… the East Coast beaches are wonderful, but always several degrees cooler than than just a mile or two inland, and of course far windier…….what attracts us on very hot days may not be so perfect when the weather cools down….the perils of coastal beauty!

It’s so true isn’t it Frizz. The evening is the time to smooth away the action of day into the cool serenity of rest, letting go of what has been, to allow sleep to follow.

Thank you, it was a phrase which kept bouncing around my head as I was shooting, immersed in the slow decay of the days light.

Wow, thank you…..I was captivated by the unravelling light, which began by intensifying into apricot, and then dissolved into fading pink. Reflected across the rippling fields it was beautiful.
Stunning. The colours in the sky seem to be reflected on the fields.
Colline, that’s exactly the effect I was trying to capture, so your comment makes me very happy. The wispy whiskers of the wheat seemed to catch the pink light in shifting bands, it was very ephemeral.

It was, and in fact watching the ripples change in depth and colour was even more amazing than any of the shots I took.
Absolutely beautiful shots with a gorgeous palette of lovely pastels.
Isn’t nature wonderful with her creative palette. I saw the sky turning apricot pink, so jumped in the car and headed quickly to these nearby fields which roll into the Pentland Hills. It was even more beautiful than I had hoped.
