So here’s something a little different. Two of my gorgeous friends, and my lovely mother-in-law, have all just moved house. So I decided to paint a housewarming card, print it, and send it to each of them to wish them much joy and happiness in their new homes. I was walking in the woods this morning when the image began to form in my mind……
…a perfectly quirky woodland retreat, blending into the landscape around it, and sprinkled with a little whimsy. Nestled in a gold leafed wood, with a homely sign showing the way. A little house magic!
I haven’t painted for quite a while, so I’m hoping this is the resurrection of an old habit…..the first small stirrings of a long slumbering beast.
Ciao MacKenzie;- 10:40 A.M on u’re side I see the Sun Burst over the Ocean from my home…Looks like u’re photo except over the Ocean as the Sun Rises from the East 🙂 Next time send u a pic. by Richard Honan.
This reminds me the dawn after the Ice Age…..The warmth and Heath over the Earth “Planet” ( The Sun Burst.)

Wishing you and u’re family a fruitful New Year.
I read everyone of u’re posts
How far are you from Edinburgh ?
Thank you so much, it’s always lovely to know who’s reading along.
We live about 8 miles from the city centre….Edinburgh’s not a big city, one of the reasons I love it 🙂
Love and Light to you and yours in the dark season of the year.
Aah another talent you have Seonaid ! Gorgeous work 🙂
I seem to have been missing your posts from my reader … so am on a delicious catch up 😉
This is absolutely adorable! You have such artistic and creative talents. Like others here, I can see a children’s book. Now, I may not have mentioned it, but I am sure I may be moving house over the next twenty years or so….:)
Well let me know when you move and a card will be sent! You can even have one now, in anticipation if you like….just email me your address 🙂
Completely lovely cards which they will treasure I’m sure! You really should consider illustrating books. Children’s books would be great. It’s the fantasy inside you, the stories and the positive thoughts coming out. Brilliant!
Thanks for all the encouragement, now all I need is a book to illustrate! As you say all that fantasy within has to go somewhere 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Cute- quirky and made with love- a card anyone would love to receive
You make it sound so perfect, thank you 🙂
What stunning artwok, Seonaid. I would be so happy to receive such a wonderful hand painted house warming card. 🙂
That’s great to hear, and what a great compliment 🙂
I have been meaning to comment on every breathtaking picture you post and the wonderful words you write so perfectly! But this one, just made me stop and I had to write this comment. !ts beautiful! I am sure the owners of new home are warmed and happy.
That’s so lovely to hear, and thanks so much for taking the time to stop and comment….it’s much appreciated 🙂
I love it, I wish I was moving house so you could send me one. I bet they will love it.
How magnificent! These are gorgeous paintings. You surely are an illustrator for books – children’s tales? If not, you should be. Just gorgeous.
Well not currently, but who knows what the future might hold 🙂 Thanks for the lovely comment.
The paintings are so cute, Seonaid 🙂
Thank you Hanna 🙂
Quite nice. I very much like the style … I hope to see more in the near future. D
Well I hope to get back into the painting habit 🙂 The response to this post has been so encouraging that I really have no excuse now!
This looks like the cover of a children’s book (with a nicer story than Hansel and Gretel!). Such lovely colours and free brushstrokes. I wish I could turn my hand to something like this. I’m sure your cards will take pride of place on the mantlepiece of the lucky recipients
I hope they will enjoy them, and I had fun creating them….other than the wrestling match with the printer….by far the hardest part of the whole process 🙂
It is really lovely – fresh and a trifle quirky. This style would do well for children’s books.
Thanks, now I just need to find a book looking for an illustrator 🙂
This is so beautiful and creative! You’re quite the talented painter 🙂
Thanks Caitlin…..but of course I can see all the flaws 🙂 the artists critical eye is a terrible thing!
You might as well include a frame because they will want to display something this beautiful and original. 🙂
That’s such a sweet thought Judy 🙂
you never cease to amaze 🙂
what other talents have you got squirrelled away? 🙂
Well I’ll just have to keep trying to amaze 🙂
That might be it now in terms of talents!!
🙂 Lovely 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Oh Seonaid its fab, is there no end to your talents?
Gilly, thanks so much for the encouragement. I hope there isn’t an end to my talents…..or anyone else’s for that matter 😉 I had to be quite brave to post this…..funny the things we find difficult!
What a talent — creativity bursting from every seam! They will treasure these cards.
Wow Kat, what a great comment, full of encouragement. You made me smile 🙂
Oh, beautiful your painting! 🙂
Thank you, it’s so encouraging to hear 🙂
gorgeous! both the idea, and the painting 🙂
So kind 🙂
You are so very talented and KEEP GOING! I need to get back on the horse myself!
Oh you are right, I really should keep going….my lovely friend next door has just had a little baby boy…..so maybe another card is needed 🙂
Love this little painting. It will definitely be a keeper for those who receive it.
Colline, that’s a lovely thought that they might keep the cards 🙂
You are so amazing. I absolutely love your painting. It is totally charming. What lucky people to receive such a gift!
Wow, another lovely comment, thank you 🙂 Just the encouragement I need to get back to painting!
How talented you are, such happy whimsy in your card. 🙂 Nice present!
Very kind Brenda…happy whimsy….exactly what I hoped for 🙂
What a cosy little house!
That was the feel I was going for Rosa….it’s nice to feel cosy in a new home 🙂
So nice you are painting as well!
Beautiful! Love the colours and fun in the cards. A card specially made is wonderful to give and receive.
Thank you so much 🙂 I love homemade cards, and it was a good excuse to get my paints out, which have been languishing too long in the cupboard!
Reblogged this on Lighthouse Planetary Productions Inc and commented:
Very beautifully done, Friend!
Seonaid – not only are you a poetess, nature lover par excellence, photographer, but you are also a painter. You are upping the ante for the rest of us….I am sure your friends and mother-in-law will treasure these beautiful house warming gifts.
Too kind 🙂 I’m so happy to hear you think they will like the cards. Art’s a funny thing, I’ve no sooner finished something, than I’ve decided it’s no good, despite being filled with delight as I created it….for me much harder than photography!
