About greenmackenzie

Hi, I'm Seonaid, and I share my home on the shores of Loch Ness deep in the Scottish Highlands with my husband, my son and a couple of dogs. I love art which is here now and gone tomorrow...like food and nature...but also have a passion for vintage and the ancient past! Nature is my favourite muse, with her wild ever shifting seasons. I have been using and teaching mindfulness and relaxation for over 12 years, and have yet to become any sort of expert :-) I'm a Psychotherapist and Cancer Support Specialist in Maggies Highlands

What a funny combination of stones, they seem to have each their own personality.. 🙂

    So serene and beautiful!

  3. Leya says:

Calm. All senses awake. I can feel it.

  4. LB says:

    Lovely haiku, and photo, too!
I also enjoyed the hiking haiku!

    After going for a
    hike you
    write a
    haiku?
    🙂

  6. Perfect haiku for the scene, Seonaid. Lovely. 🙂

  7. Lovely view, all the way to the warm skies on the horizon. Very peaceful scene…

  8. You are lucky to be so near both the ocean and those beautiful lochs … the best of both aquatic worlds. This coastline looks quite inviting … even in the dim light. D

    • It was a strange mist filled day, hardly a flutter of a breeze, and then the mist lifted leaving this shimmering diffuse light…..it was quite other worldly……oh and it’s on the West Coast far north of Edinburgh….up near Skye….one of my favourite pats of Sctland 🙂

… you should be in print Seonaid ….
Sensual …as someone as mentioned …a very inviting scene and moment hinted at ..

    • Wow Poppy, what a lovely thing to say….but of course I am in print, here on my blog!
It was a very sensual feeling day, the mist lifted late, but hung in the sky veiling the sun, and the air and water barely stirred….it was like a liquid pause in time…

A beautiful poem Seonaid and a picture of one of my favourite places in the world too! Applecross Bay with Rasaay in the background, what a lovely treat 🙂

    • I’m delighted to offer you a treat peek at one of your favourite haunts Mike 🙂
I was sitting right beside the healing well, with the sound if it’s rushing water filling an otherwise still air…..at the end of a misty day..

Limpid skies, Seonaid. Gorgeous! We have full on April showers here. So bright and beautiful after the rain. 🙂

    • That’s a beautiful word to describe the scene perfectly…..the lifted just high enough to veil the late sunlight.
I love the short sharp rainbow filled rains of April 🙂

  12. Lucid Gypsy says:

    Filled with romance and possibilities.

  13. Suzanne says:

There is a timeless quality to this photo and haiku. Beautiful

    • Again that’s great to hear as that’s what I was trying to capture, the slow sensual timeless space between earth and sea on an almost still spring evening. It was taken in Applecross where an ancient Celtic monastery was based, and I always imagine the monks gazing out across this view…..

  14. Uncle Tree says:

Orbs? 😉 Kidding. Infinity is in view here!

    • It’s a view out of the long tongue of Applecross Bay…..out across the Inner Sound towards the Isle of Rassay. It was such a peaceful evening with the light seeming to shimmer on the almost still water 🙂
