Its hush shrank the world softly

wonderful mood
Lovely, missing all that white glory here. 🙂
Great capture Seonaid!
Thanks Indah, lucky timing!
Shrank the world softly … just lovely.
As is this image.
Thanks Laura, I love that soft hushed feel snow fall brings 🙂
How lovely! The haiku and the image are wonderful. I wish I could step into the scene. We rarely see that kind of snow here (and I think I must be related to a snow queen because I love snow).
Oh me too…maybe we’re both related to a snow queen….that was one of my favourite stories as a child 🙂
So real that I suddenly felt like tucking myself in…far away from the attack of the snowflakes 🙂
Ha ha…I love that comment! I love the snow and ice of winter as long as I have warm enough clothes and good roaring fire to come back to 🙂
Hurray for snow!
Couldn’t agree more Fi…it only feels like winter has properly arrived once the earth has turned white and the ground has hardened!
I know that must be very cold Seonaid, I can almost remember the feel of it from 50+ years ago when I lived in Yorkshire, but somehow the golden glow from those lamps give it a warmer feel.
I love the glow of the lights among the tumbling snow, and yes it was pretty cold and has stayed that way. It didnt rise above zero here today so the ground is frozen hard…great for dog walking as they dont get muddy 🙂
They will get very cold feet though… Do you have boots to put on them?
No, no doggie boots! To be honest they seem to love the cold and get very frisky when there is snow or ice on the ground. I think they don’t have many cold sensors in the pads of their very hairy feet! I know they regulate body heat through their paws….so dont know if thats why?
That sounds logical
Yes, but not as much fun as the image of the dogs in boots!! That made me smile lots 🙂
I’ve seen the huskies in the Iditarod Alaska sled race with special boots to protect their feet. They do look cute.
Fantastic image to go with your haiku, Seonaid, although I know the image came first. 🙂
You know me so well! The photo did indeed come firts, just outside my front gate 🙂
My slow pleasures would be me plopped in my recliner in front of a roaring fire in the fireplace with a stack of good books to read! Enjoy your snow!
I will Gwynn, I love it when the world turns white for a little while….and I love a roaring fire to head back to after all the fun 🙂
Yes, perfect (as your first comment says). “Slow pleasures,” yes. Magic.
The pleasures of snow are uncountable….soft, hushed and oh so pretty!
So beautiful!
I do love a bit of snow 🙂
You could step right into that photo, Seonaid! (I know- you stepped out of it to take the shot 🙂 ) I can feel the hush 🙂
That’s great to hear Jo….I literally stepped out of my front gate and there she was! I think the snow falling makes the world feel more intimate 🙂
We’ve only had a flutter so far and I’m happy with that 🙂 🙂
Lovely haiku. It settles like cottonwool snow in my soul.
Oh what a lovely comment Anna Christine….cottonwool snow in my snow 🙂 I love it….and it was that soft fluffy stuff, which sticks together into great snowballs!
Your haiku and photo are so lovely the snow is almost appealing!
Well that’s great to hear Gilly, that even a non-snow lover might find my take on snow appealing!
Look so cool! But, I love this snow photo, beautiful capture!
Thanks Amy, I loved the effect of the street lights in the falling snow…and like a spot light on the girl and her dog!
Great capture!! 🙂
You’ve had some too !!
Lovely haiku …the quietness of it .
Thanks Poppy, I love the way snow fall hushes the world….so gentle on the ears, as long as they are kept snug and warm!
Slow pleasures are tops.
I agree Bruce, I love a bit of snows magic transformations….so pretty!
Ah, snow, one of the many ‘joys’ of winter. I hope you like snow Seonaid. The way you’ve captured the weather with your words and with your photo makes it seem not-that-bad! Perhaps you could shed a bit of that light down here in Pennsylvania? D
I must confess to liking a bit of snow in winter…as long as the roads are well gritted for travelling…or even better at weekends or on non-work days! It makes everything so pretty and bright, covering over all sorts and glittering like magic. It always makes me smile 🙂
Perfect little haiku.Is this Edinburgh?
Yes…well the edge of Edinburgh, it’s the street I live on!
