Every moment is unique, it can never be repeated. Yet we forget this and much of our lives fly past without us even noticing. Taking the time to enjoy each unique moment as it unfolds deepens our connection, not just with our own unique life, but with the world around us. The world is in a constant state of change, and in each moment we can experience the weaving together of many threads which will never be repeated. Whenever I think about this it inspires me to try to notice just a little more of the miraculous world around me.
It’s easy to spend too much time in auto pilot, busy rushing from one task to the next, and to miss all the amazing sights and sounds which are just under our noses. Slowing down enough to savour the life we are actually living can have a powerful effect. Suddenly you might find that you’re a little happier, and a little more relaxed. You might even begin to notice that you already have everything you need to be happy, and instead of spending your life focused on the next task, you can begin to enjoy where you are right now.
I took these photos with a very fast shutter speed in sports mode on the new camera so that I could capture the action. Even taking 5 shots a second I still missed lots of unique moments in time, and it got me thinking about how much happens which I never even see, although its right in front of me.

Splendid captures! Such wonderful dogs! They bring big smiles to my face.
These dogs have a habit of making people smile 🙂 glad you liked the photos….I’m really loving my new camera for high speed captures 🙂
Couldn’t agree more with your sentiments. A great photo series as well!
Thanks, we all had fun 🙂 When my son was younger he would have been in the midst of the snowball action!

Those dogs love the snow. You did a great job capturing the action.
I absolutely LOVE these unique captures. Your dogs are adorable, and they are two big hairy balls of energy. 😀
Aww Marion, thank you 🙂 And you’ve described my girls perfectly. One of the things I love about Beardies is that they run like the wind when out, and then collapse like hairy rugs at home, so they are quite chilled to be around when your relaxing, and loads of fun to play with 🙂
They sound like amazing dogs 😀 Give them a big hug from me?
Terrific pictures! (Of course, I’m a sucker for dogs, anyway.) What camera do you use? I’m in the market for a new one and love feedback.
Thanks Melissa! I’n now using a Canon 650d, and I’m so in love with it. I spent ages trying to decide what to go for, and I’m very happy with my choice. You can use it totally in manual, or you can use some of the preset functions….best of both worlds I think, and it’s helping me build confidence as I play 🙂
Your dogs are so gorgeous. I love the shot of them with the snowball, it was like they were having a snowball fight. They are so adorable. Thanks for the great shots, made me happy!
Also, I wanted to ask, what is the breed? They are so cool and very unique.
They’re Bearded Collies, a very old Scottish breed. They are supposed to be used to herd Highland cattle, or sheep, but mine just get to play 🙂
Thanks Janine. That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the shot. It’s like they are playing catch with the snowball! I’m delighted my post made you happy…..my dogs have that effect on me too 🙂
You are so right that dogs are the best teachers when it comes to mindfulness! Love these photos! (what type of camera do you have that takes such great action shots?) ~ Kat
Happy to hear you love the photos 🙂 It’s a canon 650d, but any camera which you can adjust the shutter speed would give you these results. This is so much better than what I was using, so now the images I can see in my head, I can now actually capture.

Magnificos!!! Alegria y complicidd!!! Bravo!!
Thank you 🙂
utterly unique take on unique and captivated by your snow dogs. Brilliant clarity
Thank you, snow and hairy dogs are always a winning combination 🙂 Every shot unique!!
My boys used to play like this. Love it.
What sort of dogs were they?
Two golden retrievers. One is still going (15). The other – the best dog in the whole world- died last June. I did a post on him and now trying to remember the title ummmm. i knew there was ‘naughty’ in there.
something like Making Naughty a Life’s Work.
He was something else but yours gets the best eyes award. 🙂
And hair.
Ah yes…the hair 🙂 So sorry to hear only one of your boys is still with you. That’s the trouble with loving dogs…they don’t live long enough! But I’m convinced the years of joy are worth the ache of loss. Retrievers are brilliant dogs, my Great Aunt had a fabulous boy who could clear a whole coffee table with one sweep of his tail 🙂
I can identify with that.
🙂
I couldn’t have said it better and I couldn’t agree more! really nice 😉
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. If only I could remember to embrace every moment more often 🙂
Very cool shots!
Thanks…I really love the fast capture mode….I’m having lots of fun playing 🙂
Excellent captures! Fun just looking at the photos, must have been wonderful in person!
Thanks Tina. The dogs and snow always make for lots of fun, and my new camera made it all even better 🙂
So true, every moment is unique, and so often we waste them. I love the pictures of the dogs, carefree and living every bit of their lives.
Glad you enjoyed the photos. My dogs are my best teachers when it comes to mindfulness and living in the present. They never get bogged down in thinking, they just live and breathe and love …..if only I could manage that more often 🙂
