Petals flung open exposing heart and bones
Careless shadows flung into plain sight
Arteries dark secrets illuminated
For those who are looking
Her whole truth is visible
Its shameful flaws bated traps
Breathlessly holding her skirts ready
But nobody runs to escape the revelation
The sun radiates and earth rolls on peacefully as ever

About greenmackenzie
Hi, I'm Seonaid, and I share my home on the shores of Loch Ness deep in the Scottish Highlands with my husband, my son and a couple of dogs. I love art which is here now and gone tomorrow...like food and nature...but also have a passion for vintage and the ancient past! Nature is my favourite muse, with her wild ever shifting seasons. I have been using and teaching mindfulness and relaxation for over 12 years, and have yet to become any sort of expert :-) I'm a Psychotherapist and Cancer Support Specialist in Maggies Highlands
lovely!
Thank you 🙂
WOW, this just took my breath away! Stunning!
What a great comment, thank you 🙂
Beautiful words and images, as always Miss Seonaid. Is the flower a type of astrantia? I only know Florida plants, even after being here for 25 (gulp) years 😀 PS I gave you a name check on today’s post ( re your yellow squashes). Hope that was okay x
Well your flower identifying skills are spot on Kellie, it is indeed an astrantia. It’s one of my favourites, because of the green and pink combination. Also thanks for the name check, and as we are currently drowning in a glut of yellow squashes More will be winging their way towards you 🙂
Wow – simply breathtaking!
Thank you Fi, I loved seeing shots of your home lake once more….it seems to be the prettiest lake in the world 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous! The flowers, the photos, and the poem. It is so inspiring to visit your blog. You have no idea how much you inspire me. I always leave here with so many ideas and aspirations. Thank you for your work. 🙂
Janine, you’ve got me blushing now, it’s wonderful to think of my posts sending you off inspired to create yours….and so the cycle goes on 🙂
Loved this one and especially loved your carefree post. Nicely done Seonaid
Thanks Tina, it’s been a bit of an unravelling, and then regathering sort of week 🙂
I love that the “The sun radiates and earth rolls on peacefully as ever”. The way that it ends the poem with that reassurance: Whatever happens, remember that the earth keeps rolling around on its axis. A beautiful poem. Thank you.
Thanks Julie, it’s something I comfort myself with whenever anxiety begins to sneak in, whenever Im struggling to make what feels like an oh so important decision, whenever it feels as though the world might unravel……I just need to look up at the sun or moon, or down at the soft earth and feel grounded 🙂
you’re a poet – I never knew. Just thought you were an ace photographer 🙂
Ha, a two trick pony:-) Click on poems in the header menu if you want to see more.
wow…a kingly gift on mother’s day…you have to prepare as greeting cards or wallpapers…miss this function on WP…
It’s Mother’s Day? Who knew, we celebrate it in spring here in the UK 🙂
a forecast and a hint…but great shots…:-D
Petals flung open ! Yes like life should be! Beautiful !
Indeed, but it can be scary revealing ourselves fully. I think there’s a tension followed by relief…..and of course it gets easier as we get older, I think 🙂
It took me years but I did !
I’m in awe! Thank you!
Wow Amy, wonderfully strong praise, thank you 🙂
How lovely. Your words radiate with peace.
The peace after turmoil…..will they like like it or will they run 🙂
Thanks Suzanne
Great post. I like the poem too.
Thanks Jeff, it’s the structure and texture which captivated me 🙂
I can’t see a single flaw in this post anywhere 🙂
Thanks Jo, very kind…..she releases her skirts 🙂

I love these flowers, there’s something wonderful about the way they open up.
