That’s gorgeous.
Gorgeous capture Seonaid and lovely text. Really altogether beautiful
Thank you Tina, I was trying to escape into some inner peace at the time….and it worked 🙂
I think this may be my favorite haiku of all time, and I’ve been a fan of the form for decades. “The silky lip of the sea”: gorgeous, perfect.
Amazing photo, Seonaid 🙂
as if those words could possibly get better…there it is, that scene of those words…swooning, girl, I’m just swooning
Lol, you crack me up Liane….I’m now grinning ear to ear 🙂
Mother Nature is such a generous muse!
Gorgeous – there is nothing more I can say, really…
Well we could visit in the summer with the dogs……:-)
Striking indeed.
Glad you liked it Colin, and you have such wonderful sea views direct from your living room. I envy you for that 🙂
Lovely words, Seonaid. I adore that coastline of yours.
Do you take a swim in the summertime, or is it too dangerous with currents and tides?
All the best,
Hanna
Thank you Hanna, and it’s a great place for swimming if you can bear the cold water. With the wonderful weather this summer I swam a few times, and the dogs love it when we join them in the sea :-)The beaches along this coast are a great mix of soft shallow sandy ones, and dramatic cliffs. Because it’s an estuary the waves are usually not to bad for swimming.
It sounds wonderful, Seonaid.
Are there some old stories about shipwrecks and stuff?
Oh yes, lots of stories, and lots of Saints and Kings and Queens, along with the shipwrecks and pirates 🙂
Marvelous, that’s what I want to hear 🙂
Haiku as it should be!
Coming from such a wonderful poetess I love this comment, thank you Gilly 🙂
fab!!!!!
Thanks 🙂
What an awesome shot, Soeonaid! Love the soft and smooth feeling of the water…
Such a great comment Amy, thanks. That soft silky feeling really got under my skin that evening……and the light, the light….it was a beautiful gift from Mother Nature 🙂
Love it … nicely done. Beautiful. BP 110/70. D
David I’m delighted to hear that my posts are back on track, helping your blood pressure to drop….you always make me smile when you comment like this 🙂
Lovely ,,, photo and haiku
I’m so glad you enjoyed the combination….the words of course spilled out from the photo 🙂
That shot is so beautiful, it’s almost edible, Seonaid! 🙂
Thanks Jo, it really was a silky evening, everything was so soft from the damp sand, to the whisper of wind, to the sighing waves and that so, so soft light 🙂
So beautiful!
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful haiku and picture.
Thanks, the words came from the image, and the experience of being there as the day ended 🙂
Beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Amazing haiku, Seonaid. This image is just a perfect end to the day. 🙂
So glad you enjoyed the haiku, and the image is one of a series as the day slid into night….and it was around 3:45pm….so early at this time of year.
The silky lip of the sea…swallows light. What a wonderfully delicious metaphor for this transitional time….
Thank you, the words came from the image in my head as I watched the sun fade into the beautiful seascape.
Beautiful photo. Looks so tranquil. In a setting like this, I would never want the day to end.
It did seem to roll on into twilight forever Colline 🙂
Even once the sun had dropped it was still an incredibly beautiful evening, with a soft whisper of a breeze
This is beautiful Seonaid. It’s a scene I could gaze upon for a long long time.
The light was beautiful, and it changed slowly over half a an hour, giving us a wonderful array of feelings and colours.
This was around 3:45 in the afternoon.
It always amazes me to remember sitting at the same spot around midsummer at 10:30pm with similar light!
I love the dramatic shift over 6 months.
So peaceful 🙂
It was a very soft and peaceful swallowing of the light 🙂
Not a whisper of wind, and sea was like a smooth silver mirror.
I could just melt into scenery like that!
