Plockton: the morning before the race
I took this photo a few years ago, and love the vertical reflections of the masts. The boats are due to take part in a race later in the day, as part of the yearly regatta, and so soon the peace will be swirled into the wild excitement of competition.
I have posted this for the Weekly Photo Challenge : Reflections

Hi, I'm Seonaid, and I share my home on the shores of Loch Ness deep in the Scottish Highlands with my husband, my son and a couple of dogs. I love art which is here now and gone tomorrow...like food and nature...but also have a passion for vintage and the ancient past! Nature is my favourite muse, with her wild ever shifting seasons. I have been using and teaching mindfulness and relaxation for over 12 years, and have yet to become any sort of expert :-) I'm a Psychotherapist and Cancer Support Specialist in Maggies Highlands
I agree with travellersoul with the serenity of the scene but one thing I would say along with the reflections of the mast, your photo also captured the tranquility of the varying shades of blue in the clouds and the clouds themselves and the color are reflected in the water, making it a duality of colors and peacefulness. It almost seems that the stillness of the mast against the backdrop of the storm clouds and the clash of the blues that it represents the proverbial quiet before the storm.
That’s just my very humble opinion, but as a poet I tend to look into and deconstruct and reconstruct at the same time…chaos theory…I guess. Thank you for sharing a beautiful story of a photo.
What a beautiful piece of writing. With words you have been able to say far than I could …..perhaps I should stick to photography 🙂 I love the idea of deconstructing and reconstructing at the same time. Like walking on the razor edge of creation in every moment. Thank you for taking the time to read, reflect and comment on my post. It has been very inspiring….encouraging me to push a little deeper into my creativity.
Each of us that have been blessed with one talent or multiple talents should be inspired each and everyday to push deeper. Although not very religious these days, I do remember the parable of the three servants who were given varying talents… we should never squander or waste what we have been given…its a lesson I have recently relearned…due to some drastic changes I am having and have had to make about my own life. Thank you for stopping by my page as well, come back any time.
